What's New at Kaufman, Payton & Chapa Kaufman, Payton & Chapa recently successfully concluded two significant premises liability cases. In each, the firm was defending a business that was responding to premises liability claims for personal injuries occurring on or about the business property. In one case, Kaufman, Payton & Chapa argued that a business does not have responsibility for actions that take place off of its property. In the second, Kaufman, Payton & Chapa held that a business has a duty to act only with reasonable care to provide for the safety of its customers/clients. Both cases were tried to a jury this fall, and the verdict in each was a no-cause of action for our defendants.
