Augustine (Gus) O. Igwe of Kaufman Payton & Chapa, Farmington Hills, Michigan, was elected to serve as an Officer and Council Member of the State Bar of Michigan Insurance and Indemnity Law Section at the September 17, 2009 Annual Meeting of the Section.

The mission of the State Bar of Michigan Insurance and Indemnity Law Section is to provide a forum for an exchange of information, views and expertise from all perspectives on insurance coverage issues and indemnity issues, as well as to provide information and assistance to other persons or organizations on matters relating to insurance and indemnity.

Augustine (Gus) O. Igwe heads Kaufman Payton & Chapa's Insurance Regulatory and Transactional Practice. He advises clients regarding the formation and licensing of insurance entities, including all aspects of insurance regulation and operation. He also advises clients in mergers, acquisitions, recapitalizations and disposals of insurance entities, as well as on various aspects of captive insurance formation and operation.
