Automotive suppliers facing business litigation for price fixing

A number of major car supply companies working in Detroit, Michigan, have been accused of price fixing. This is the process of artificially setting prices so that they cost more than they actually should on an open market, and the cost is usually picked up by the consumer. In the case of car parts, the consumer may have no choice but to buy the part in order to have the car repaired at all, so people have the right to deal with parts that are competitively priced -- just like any other product in the current market. When prices are fixed, it causes the consumer to pay more than they are worth.

Stryker Corp., a medical technologies company, is facing a trade secret lawsuit accusing it of conspiring to steal confidential information from Zimmer Inc., a company engaged in making orthopedic devices. Stryker is based in Michigan and the business litigation asserts that it engaged in a conspiracy with a former employee of Zimmer to improperly obtain customers and trade secrets belonging to the plaintiff. That employee left Zimmer to take a job with Stryker last month.

Ousted Michigan cop demands respect for his veteran’s rights

A former U.S. Army veteran says that the Bay City, Michigan, police department made threats against him that forced him to "resign" his job as a police officer or face the possibility of being fired for alleged misconduct. In treating him this way, he asserts, they failed to comply with a state law that gives military veterans certain preferential rights for public employment. This act of discrimination, he contends, entitles him to a formal hearing before the city commission.

2 Michigan health information companies prepare to merge

Bringing resources together for the benefit of companies, employees and customers can be a complex undertaking. Mergers are both exciting and overwhelming. They involve complex legal issues and the resolution of thousands -- if not hundreds of thousands -- of small discrepancies between merging organizations. Contracting with professionals to ensure everything during a merge goes smoothly is always a good idea.
