When employment disputes arise, do you have a strategy?

Michigan employers work hard to find qualified, hard-working employees who are dedicated to the company and its future. Difficult situations can arise from time to time with even the best employees, however, such as when allegations of wrongdoing arise.

Recently, this blog discussed just some of the complicated legal issues that may arise in the employment context. For example, there are numerous laws just in the area of discrimination claims alone, including Title VII and other federal laws, and several state laws that may be implicated.

Each of these laws has different elements that must be satisfied in order for it to be a successful claim. While there is often some overlap between these different laws, such as a state and federal race or age discrimination law, there may be nuances that separate the claims from one another. Accordingly, a key fact might change the application of one or more of these laws, and could be the difference in an employer being considered liable under the law.

Our firm understands these nuances and how they impact our clients. We fully investigate each case to determine what the facts are, and how those facts will impact the law in that particular case. We can then put in place a strategy to protect our clients' best interests and handle each situation with the attention and care it deserves. Whether that means striving for an appropriate settlement to resolve the case in short order, or pressing on through a trial to give our clients the day in court they need, we work closely with our clients to determine their individual needs.
